Paige Mercer Cummings

Paige Mercer Cummings grew up in coastal Brunswick, Georgia, the setting for Under the Liberty Oak. Her father was the mayor of Brunswick during the civil rights period, and Paige had a child's eye view of some of the events of the time.


Retired from the Navy Nurse Corps and the Red Cross, she has been writing since childhood. In 1995, co-workers encouraged her to  put her childhood stories back on paper.  Under the Liberty Oak is her first published fiction piece since childhood.

Paige has been nominated for the Georgia Author of the Year Award- Best First Novel 2007 by the Georgia Writers Association.
